I have been pushing pretty hard to win this November. Not for Obama. I am sure Obama will win (well...about 90% sure and I have been for some 6 months now). It is Congress I am worried about.

We are at risk of losing the Senate and we really need to gain in the House. I think we can do both...MAYBE even take the House if we push really, really hard.

So I have been pushing with 3 Act Blue Pages to try and win key races that are looking close. If we want to dominated Congress anytime soon, these are the races we need to win. Follow me below the fold for more...but first, I also have a suggestion for those who are feeling the Democrats aren't Progressive enough. If you can't bring yourself to stand by Obama, don't write a diary about a third party candidate (it will only end in tears!). Instead put some time/money/effort into helping the Progressive Majority endorsed candidates. They are a fantastic bunch and Progressive Majority is one of our most important organizations getting Progressives elected to important positions in local and state government. They are our future.

But looking at Congress, please help me with these three efforts...I am doing better than usual in my fundraising efforts and would like to seriously compete with the Koch Brothers in fundraising ("To Dream...the Impossible Dream...").

EFFORT 1: Defending and upgrading the Senate.
Raised so far: $780.00
Highest amount raised at this site so far:
Jon Tester (MT) $160.00
Shelley Berkley (NV) $150.00

Right now polls suggest we may lose the Senate. That would pretty much suck. My Senate Act Blue Site has been targeting some of the key races. At this point (polls have been going up and down in some races) the closest races are:

We need to win almost all of these to hold the Senate. Several of them we are probably going to win. But others are worrisome. Personally I am particularly eager to win in Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana and Wisconsin because in each of these we have a good candidate pitted against a horrible right wing extremist. Click here for more info and to help win the Senate. I would love to really boost my fundraising on this!

EFFORT 2: Gaining in the House

Raised so far: $1,014.00
Highest amount raised at this site so far:
Christie Vilsack (IA-4): $84.00

We REALLY need to regain the House but at the moment the polls aren't in our favor. But there are a LOT of close races and I am hoping the enthusiasm from the convention will help put some of these races over the top for us.

I am particularly eager to win:

IA-4 (defeating Repub extremist and racist Steve King)
IL-11 (electing renowned scientist Bill foster)
NH-1 and NH-2
CA-10 (electing an Astronaut!!!)
FL-6 and FL-26

Truth is we need to win all of these and more if we want ANY shot of retaking the House. If nothing else, help me defeat racist Steve King in IA-4!!! I would SO LOVE to take him down. Click here to help retake the House.

EFFORT 3: Kick ass in Massachusetts, Illinois and Wisconsin
This is in honor of the Pres and VP candidates of both Parties...I would love to see Democrats sweep in all the states these candidates hail from...don't know any close races in Delaware so that means MA, WI and IL
Raised so far: $465.00
Highest amount raised at this site so far:
Pat Kreitlow (WI-7): $49.06
Rob Zerban (WI-1): $49.07

Between Senate and House, these are three critical states. MA-SEN and WI-SEN are particularly critical. And there are House races in all three states we need to win to retake the House. But most of all, it would look REALLY bad for Romney and Ryan if we swept these states. So help me win big on the home turf of Romeny, Ryan and Obama.

So far among these three pages I have raised over $ much more can we raise to give Obama the best Congress he can have. After all, the Billionaire Koch Brothers are giving far more to keep Obama from getting anything done, so we need to fight back.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
