Inspired by Gov Jennifer Granholm's great line:

In Romney's World, the cars get the elevator, and the workers get the shaft.
And Holy Shit! Go here and watch her speech again. Democracy Now really caught the crowd reaction. You will jump up and start shouting all over again. Gov Granholm and President Obama, thank you for standing with Detroit and the United Auto Workers! In November, We Remember.

See the new verses below Solidarity Squiggle.

Rap them and sing them like this:

(Dedicated to Detroit City and the
 United Auto Workers)

Well, I guess it was back in '83
When being young and broke got the better of me
So I went to work on the Detroit auto lines.
I joined the United Auto Workers,
And I'll tell you what, we had no shirkers;
Times were good, and we were doing fine.

Well, the hours were long and we worked hard,
Come Friday night, at the local bar,
We'd toss back a few, and have us a real good time.
Well it wasn't too long till I met a girl,
And I knew right then she was a pearl,
So on bended knee, I asked her to be mine.

Well, we had some kids, and we bought a home,
And the years flew by, and we payed on our loan,
Till there came along an Economic Crash.
We got a call to come on in,
And everyone was looking grim;
That's when Mr Romney started talking trash.

Well, his car got the golden lift;
And we got the shaft.
For his Mustang and his Chevy
And his wife's two Cadillacs.
Now, he must think it's funny,
Cause we can hear him laugh.
His cars got the golden lift;
We got the shaft.

Now, he wrote a piece for the New York Times,
To bail us out would be our demise,
And Detroit City was just plain out of luck.
Takes brass coming from a millionaire
To say that we should pay our share;
Well, he's got his, so Detroit can go get fucked.

But our President, he had our backs
When American Workers were under attack,
He bet on us and we do not forget.
And now Detroit is doing fine;
The cars are rolling off the line,
And come November, we will not forget!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
