nannyboz' quilt top
nannyboz' quilt top -- the quilt is almost done!

Our friend raina is grieving.  She recently lost her mother to cancer after a long illness.  Even when a loss is expected, it hits hard -- and raina's heart is really hurting.  We are going to wrap her in community love in the form of a quilt and would love for you to join in the project.

A community quilt is filled with loving, supportive messages from you.  Write a short message to raina in the comments and I will transcribe it in archival ink on muslin.  My sister and I will sew it into her quilt -- so she'll never be without your kindness.  She'll be able to cry into her quilt if she needs to or just cuddle up for a soothing nap.  Her tribe will be with her, always.

If you would like to support the project with a donation toward the time and materials it takes to make the quilt, here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address if you prefer to send a check.  $10/message is suggested -- but some people cannot afford to donate.  So if you can give a little extra to support the messages of others, it would be a kindness!

Here are a few of her messages, for inspiration:

Sometimes the memories are hard
The journey seems too long
May each step you take help for the next
May each deep breath create a new one.
May sunshine come with this quilt
To brighten your day. Best wishes!  cfk in the Thumb of Michigan

Care for yourself as you would a loved one for you are a much loved one. ZenTrainer

The songs of the waves and the hymns of the streams
Are scattered, and the voices of the throngs reduced to silence;
And I can hear naught but the music of Eternity
In exact harmony with the spirit's desires.
I am cloaked in full whiteness;
I am in comfort; I am in peace.  Bubbanomics

I'm so sorry for your loss raina. I know how hard it is to lose your mother. It's been four years for me. While you will always mourn for her, the pain of it does ease with time. Be strong dear. Much love and many blessings.  One Pissed Off Liberal

When you fold yourself into this quilt, may you feel the arms of all who have loved you holding you close.  Release the  cares of the day for a moment and remember.  weck

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
