Rush Limbaugh
I have always considered Rush Limbaugh's predictions as worthless as phloem strings on a ripened banana. But I think we can all get behind
yesterday's Rushbo prognostication that "
the Republican Party will be unable to survive if Obama wins this November."
(Cue Same Cooke's What A Wonderful World This Would Be...)
Of course Limbaugh's also predicting the demise of everything. His claim that "we’re headed toward an economic collapse and we are the leader of the world" has been repeated on 600 websites according to Google, here and here. That number reflects El Rushbo's broad influence beyond his radio network. So we should take him oh so seriously, right?
When it happens to us, there are reverberations all over the world. It's not like some little Podunk European country collapsing, that goes to another relatively Podunk European country for a bailout. When we collapse, there are worldwide reverberations.
How long is it going to take?
I'm asking a serious question.
Eighteen months? You throw Obamacare onto what we know we're gonna get more of from Obama: More debt, more spending, the expansion of the welfare state, more people on food stamps. How long can this go on? How many of you think we're at the tipping point now? Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the years are 2020, 2022, 2024 as to when they implode. How long do we have if this guy wins?
–Rush Limbaugh, How Long Do We Have If Obama Wins?
And here's your chance to note El Rushbo's extreme nervousness about the election:
If Obama wins, let me tell you what it's the end of: The Republican Party. There's gonna be a third party that's gonna be oriented toward conservatism. I know Rand Paul thinks libertarianism. And I know if Obama wins, the Republican Party is gonna try to maneuver things so conservatives get blamed.
The only problem is, right now Romney's not running a conservative campaign. But they're gonna set it up to say, "Well, the right sat home," or, "The right made Romney be other than who he is." They'll try to deflect the blame, but they got who they want. How long do we have, folks, if Obama wins? How long do we have? I know people who think 18 months -- 18 months before a real United States economic collapse that the Fed cannot do anything about, that the ChiComs can't do anything about. Two years, four years, whatever. The point is, that's what's on the other side of Obama winning, 'cause he's not gonna change anything.

On the same broadcast, Limbaugh referenced the polls:
By the way, folks, on this whole business of you being despondent and depressed... I don't know how many of you are, but I'm telling you: The conservative media out there need the vapors. They're about ready to toss it in. You know, they live in this media bubble. They live and work in it, and consider themselves part of it, and they're totally freaked out. They believe every poll that comes out.
To the extent that you read them and access them, I just want to warn you: You're gonna be hit with fatalism like you haven't seen before. For example, Hume said on Fox this morning, "Well, you gotta keep in mind that the candidate who is ahead in the polls in mid-September rarely loses."
–Rush Limbaugh, Some Presidential Poll History
Limbaugh then recited accounts of prior elections, and cheered himself adequately that he was able to conclude, "If there's precedent here, it's not on Obama's side." Even Rush knows how to whistle past the graveyard.
Meanwhile, Laura Ingraham has taken up the mantra that the Republican Party may not deserve to survive if it loses this election. Ingraham is quoted, "If you can't beat Barack Obama with this record, then shut down the party. Shut it down, start new, with new people. Because this is a gimme election, or at least it should be."
Please be aware of this disturbing Rush Limbaugh censorship news:
Facebook has closed down Matthew Desmond's Boycott Rush Limbaugh's Sponsors page on Facebook, which had garnered 18,000 LIKEs, and was an information sharing site for political activism related to Rush Limbaugh. Facebook also closed down Desmond's "Americans Against Mitt Romney" page, and terminated one of Desmond's login accounts (Matthew Desmond is the creator and publisher of Addicting Info). Matthew informed me in an email that Facebook asserted the action was "for posting multiple images which violate copyright laws." Follow this link for an overview of a similar censorship issue involving Limbaugh, Youtube and Daily Kos. No confirmation yet that Limbaugh was behind the current censorship effort on Facebook; please stay tuned, I'll update that diary as new information comes to light.

The greatest threat to Rush Limbaugh's continued radio dominance is the activism of consumers, volunteers, and activists who seek to hold Rush accountable for his hate speech by joining Flush Rush on Facebook, and other groups that use the StopRush Database to inform advertisers about where their ads are appearing. |
