about Romney's history with the Vietnam War and avoiding military service while supporting it.
We know that during his years at prep school, he harassed and bullied a fellow student. Contemporaneous accounts make it sound as though homophobia was at least a partial motivation. Romney subsequently claimed he didn't remember, then that he did remember that the kid was gay. We know that he had a habit of dressing up in a state trooper's uniform and pulling motorists over (a possible felony; certainly dangerous and disturbing behavior). This article says he also had a flashing light that he used on the roof of his car (this was presumably before he kept his dog there) so he could speed on the freeway while rushing to catch a flight. He was strongly in favor of the Vietnam War, yet did everything in his power to avoid serving in it. He abused his "missionary" deferment and his student deferment to avoid being drafted and spent at least some years of the war living in France. Later, he claimed he wanted to serve. His default position in the face of any foreign policy crisis seems to be provocation, sometimes military provocation.
What does this say about the man's character, other than that he has none?
