More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

when John McCain RASHLY attempted to suspend his campaign because of the financial crisis?  Isn't this the same man who RASHLY picked a dimwit from Alaska just because she had a uterus?  And isn't this the same McCain who recently suggested that Obama drop Joe (who has been doing a stellar job as VP) and put Hillary Clinton (who has been doing an equally stellar job as SOS) in the VP slot?  And isn't this the same Hillary Clinton, who McCain, just hours ago, tweeted about:

"Just watched an excellent and moving stmt by Sec. Clinton- just the right message and tone."
And doesn't Secretary of State Hillary Clinton SPEAK FOR THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION???

So given all this, why then, hours later, after Mitt Robot's people briefed McCain on their desperately pathetic talking points, did he willingly jump inside their clown car with this?

for Mr. McCain. First he gets his ass handed to him in a presidential race by a black guy named Hussein that, until shortly before the race, not many had even heard of. A Muslim and a socialist too, no less, and yet McCain gets beat. Then Obama gets himself a brand new presidential helicopter, which should have rightly been McCains! Then Obama turns the military into a gay-friendly organization, and though McCain warns that pandemonium will ensue, absolutely nothing happens. And now, Obama is beating yet the next guy with 7 houses who lines up to challenge him. You gotta feel for poor John.

    Get off my lawn!

McCain did say that al Quaida attacked us because they could tell W was a coward.  Oh, he didn't?  That's weird.  McCain does seem like a really solid judge of character though.  That must be why they always want him on those Sunday morning shows.

Remember when W's face was all bruised and the story was that he choked on a pretzel and fell off the couch?  Sober people always protect their face, but whatever.  Remember when that guy threw a shoe at him and then W replied "So the guy threw a shoe at me, so what?"  Or what about this guy:

That's it: I give up. I... I just give up. I never, EVER wanted to see anything this profoundly disgusting, and now that I have, I can say in fairness that I'm worse off for it. It's bad enough that Mittens -- a man nominated by popular vote to run for President of the United States as the representative of one of our two major parties -- got the ball rolling on this. I could have written him off as just one horrifically narcissistic douchebag who cares more about gaining power than he does about the safety of his country's own people. But seeing allegedly respectable members of his party falling in lockstep with this dunderheaded talking point is very close to being enough to demolish my faith in my countrymen.

Please wake me up for election day. I don't think I can stomach any more, and I know it's just going to get worse.

And volunteering, too, if I can. It just horrifies me THAT much that anyone besides Mitt Romney and other folks of his "caliber" (i.e. Sarah Palin) could think this is a good idea.

(Then again, McCain is the one who gave us Sarah Palin, so there's that.)

  •  it's a slight pivot that is much easier to sell (5+ / 0-)

If everybody pivots  away from Romney's big mistake to the talking point that the attack is a sign of and result of a larger problem--under Obama's leadership the U.S. is  perceived globally as weak--that's easier to sell and harder to argue. Because it devolves into "No we're not. Yes we are" back and forth. What facts do you present to prove the U.S. is respected and feared under Obama's leadership? How do you prove that the mob who stormed the embassy couldn't give 2 hoots which American president is in charge?

It's hard to reason with people who believe that if we're not either at war with any regime we disagree with, meddling willy nilly in the affairs of other countries or throwing our weight around bending the leaders of other countries to our will, we are weak.

So now the repubs who showed brief moments of clarity today can  go back to what they're most comfortable with: attacking Obama.

Then they noted that something like 11 US Embassies/Ambassadors were attacked during W's watch.  So if an attack overseas is an indicator of a CIC's weakness, then using their same illogical assertion, GEORGIE BOY IS JUST AS WEAK.

The stupid assertion that Obama's weakness caused the attack can be said about Bush since he had more than 11 embassy incidents/attacks on his watch.

Whatever the case, John McCain, Donald Rumsfeld, Sarah Palin, the GOP and all the rest of the idiots who agree with them  are full of horseshit.

That talking point came from Kissinger.

      http://abcnews.go.com/...

At a fundraiser earlier today in Jacksonville, Fla. Romney invoked Kissinger: “I saw Dr. Kissinger some months ago,” Romney said. “I said, ‘Dr Kissinger, how is America perceived today in the world? He said one word, ‘Weak.’ Weak. The world needs American strength.”
Well...okay...that assumes you would believe anything Romney says.
