I do not know where Sarah Palin has been in the last three years but if she does not think this president has a "big stick" when it comes to foreign policy -- she is entirely wrong. Has she forgotten; this president gave the order to go get Osama bin Laden, knowing very well that if the mission failed, he would take a serious political hit for it.
After the recent Libya tragedy, where two U.S. embassy staff had been killed, Sarah Palin had criticism for President Obama's remarks and handling of the crisis. She wrote in a Facebook post this remark:
"We already know that President Obama likes to 'speak softly' to our enemies. If he doesn’t have a 'big stick' to carry, maybe it’s time for him to grow one."
Maybe she should ask all of those dead Al Qaeda operatives if they think our president carries a "big stick". She should make sure to ask Osama bin Laden how he feels about President Obama too. Oh, that's right; she can't because they're all dead.
For me, her comment made me think about that quote from Theodore Roosevelt from which she was referring:
"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."
President Obama to me fulfills that piece of advice from one of our greatest presidents, Teddy Roosevelt. When it comes to foreign policy, Obama knows how to "speak softly" and he most assuredly carries a very "big stick". I also believe he "will go far".
Therefore, I want to thank Governor Palin for comparing the quote with Obama. I hope that some of my fellow Americans will also be reminded and do some comparing on their own. I would have never thought of it if it had not been for Sarah, so thanks Sarah, because Obama needs all the help he can get.
