This ended up in the in-box of a business site that I manage.  I'd inform them that they're actually sending this to a Flaming Liberal Feminist Democrat, but that would spoil my fun.  Anyway, it seems that there's a Plot By Liberals against Mia Love -- and I haven't gotten my invitation yet!  Horrors!

Continues below the Squiggle of Perplexity

I've been busy with other things.  I had never heard of the woman until this missive skidded, shrieking and flaming, into my in-box.  Here's what it says in all its breathless glory (well, SOME of its breathless glory.  It's been trimmed for length) :

Now that conservative superstar Mia Love has made such a splash at the Republican convention, the liberals are attacking her with taunts and slurs. This brave woman is standing up to an entrenched incumbent and facing the might and fury of the entire liberal establishment.
This surprised me.  I thought we had a pretty entrenched liberal establishment here and I don't see her name bandied about.  In fact, I didn't see it in the news much.

(snipped the usual "desperately needs the help of every conservative" call for donations of up to at least $250)

Millions of Americans were introduced to this incredible leader last week when she wowed the Republican National Convention.
I didn't watch, but googling her name gives lots of glowing news stories about her.
However, Mia's rise to prominence and the boost that national appearance gave to her campaign have come at a terrific cost.
...which has somehow failed to be reported in the news.  Fox News noted in one story that her Wikipedia page was vandalized. http://www.foxnews.com/... (the name-calling on that page actually doesn't sound like the most extreme liberals I know)
She now has a target on her back and the liberals want to destroy her campaign.  Minutes after her speech leftists began trashing her online, writing the most hateful and bigoted things about Mia.

I've never seen such savage attacks on a public figure.

They obviously haven't been paying attention to the attacks on Obama.  Seconds after he opens his mouth on ANY topic, there's going to be someone saying something hateful about him.  I had to point one of my college classmates on Facebook to a Snopes article earlier today that debunked one of the latest Tea Party rants.

Apparently the word has gone out from Washington that Mia Love must be stopped. And every leftist in America is working overtime to make sure she does not become the first black female Republican elected to Congress.
I've missed the memo.  Does this mean that I'm a) not leftist or b) not American?

So, being curious, I did a few searches.  It turns out that Democrats and liberals have been electing Black women to Congress since 1968: http://www.npr.org/...

Ms Love is being supported by BAMPAC  According to this organization, the REAL lies against her are the announcement that her opponent has a 13 point lead over her, which was determined by a poll that they say has been manipulated: http://bampac.org/...

And that was my entertaining excursions for the morning.  How were your excursions?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
