This took place yesterday 15 September 2012:

Trail of Tears ride set for Saturday

And in the early years of the founding of the country:

15 September 2012 - The 19th annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride will be held Saturday, September 15.

The Indian Removal Act of 1830 called for the voluntary or forcible removal of all Indians from the eastern United States to the state of Oklahoma.  May of 1838 marked the deadline for voluntary native removal.  So began the Cherokee “Trail of Tears,” one of the darkest episodes in relations between the United States and Native Americans.  As many as 4,000 deaths occurred because of this forced removal of civilized Native Americans from their rightful homes. In the end, members of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole nations suffered the same fate as the Cherokees. read more>>>

September 15, 2012 - Madison police say 2,000-2,500 bikers pass through city on Trail of Tears stop, no reports of traffic issues
Trail of Tears riders pass through Athens on trip of remembrance
September 16, 2012 - The 19th annual Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride passed through Athens at high noon Saturday on U.S. 72 near Champion Chevrolet.

An estimated 150,000 riders were expected to take part in the event that stretches from southern Tennessee to northern Alabama and follows the footsteps of Native Americans affected by the Indian Removal Act of 1830. read more>>>

And of course the nation is supposedly even more 'christian today, just ask those on our payroll:

Fiery O.C. cleric influenced figures behind anti-Islamic film

Three of the men involved in creating 'Innocence of Muslims' are devotees of Zakaria Botros Henein, sometimes called Islam's Public Enemy No. 1.
Why of course!

While they condemn the very few extremist Muslim clerics who preach the opposite of the Islam Koran teachings and the Mosques they preach in they are found to not only follow but embrace an extremist Christian cleric in an extremist Christian church that by his own preachings does so on the complete opposite what that religious ideology New Testament Bible teaches, even with the many rewrites to it they've done!!

The totally ignorant just love showing how much they are!!

As they preace their faith? but follow their own teachings of on all issues they prefer to live by!!

And what says being a great follower of 'jesus' teachings then a bank fraud grifter, drug manufacturer, soft or hard porn producer, and whatever other criminal activities who use and praise blasphemy and are shocked, shocked I say, when 'they are treated as they have treated others'!

A Facebook posting yesterday says it all about today's times!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

But if I was, don't ride a bike, I would probably take and join as I did a few times years back with 'rolling thunder' by car or ride with someone with a bike, oh and if not on a real tight budget thanks to the bush years.

Had forgotten this was taking place till a report on a local Charlotte news outlet and it falls into the extremely false meme's and tragic results of actions that have been taking place the past few days!

but, since the 'faithful' christian has acquiesced to the fundamentalists, I believe they DO represent ALL christians.  The fundamentalists are always screaming take our 'country' back.   Isn't it time for faithful christians to scream - "take our religion back"?

Trying to 'live' by those teachings they profess to follow!!!!!!!

Religion, as life, is not preaching in word what one is but trying to live by what your beliefs are thus 'showing' not 'preaching', leading by example thus possibly converting.

Instead religious extremists say they follow the teachings and let everyone know, but if watching or listening one can quickly tell they're not, but instead those that grift their way to the top or have a soapbox to speak from turn themselves into the destructive 'god' of the old testament.

Ever notice that the so called 'christians' always speak of 'jesus', the son of god, when they talk about the good deeds done and especially in concert with their fellow church members, but use 'god' when trying to describe the destructive thoughts and actions pointed at others! That's that 'blasphemy' of free speak and not the 'sin' anymore!

They feel the guilt they should when failing, thus they learn from and try to do better!

It's not telling others how they should be and then not doing same, most of the time directly after that preaching to others!

The poster was talking about your basic garden-variety Christians. I should have been specific.

You asked, every religious ideologies have their books of teachings, written by others then and revised by others over the centuries.

But if christian and calling yourself one, or telling others you are and they should follow you, it's all in the New Testament, that's the clarity, written as to 'jesus' teachings!!!

    A Journey of Injustice

Remember and commemorate the survival of the Cherokee people, forcefully removed from their homelands in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee to live in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. They traveled by foot, horse, wagon, or steamboat in 1838-1839.

I was not able to go into Sewanee yesterday morning to honor  the riders on the northern route of 41A and US 64 so I am not sure how many riders were on that route but a couple of thousand were expected to take that route also.

They will reach Tehlequah Monday afternoon. The ride also raises money for scholarships and other educational activities as well as being a remembrance and commemoration for this sad event in American history. If you are on the route, this is a very moving event to witness.

But since my young years, especially in reading religious beliefs and teachings of different faiths over the years, and raised Catholic, I always thought that if one was to follow a 'religious ideology' and especially in invading another's land, they called themselves christian even back then, they should have taken the real teachings of christ and combined them with the better ways the natives looked at life and living the land and other living things, they themselves had the warriors within that waged against each other, it would be a hell of a different planet today! Let alone different society here on the world stage!
