No, I'm not kidding.

H. Brooke Paige, the loser in the Republican primary to "challenge" Bernie for his Senate seat, has, according to the Vermont Secretary Of State's office, filed a lawsuit in Washington County Superior Court seeking  to remove President Obama from the ballot, on the grounds that he is a space alien from Kenya's Mars colony or whatever the flavor of the week is.

I'd like to say this surprises me....but it doesn't.

Squiggledeedipdown...

For years Vermonters have sent radical Socialist and "Liberals" to Washington, embarrassing our great state with plans and schemes designed to bankrupt Vermont and America.
I like that. Vermonters vote their critters in with the intent to execute a secret plot to bankrupt America.

But never mind that. We'll expose that plot another time.

Look at Republican gubernatorial challenger to Governor Peter Shumlin, Randy Brock, bringing in far-right ideologues like Tarren Bragdon and taking Darcie Johnston away from Vermonters for Health Care "Freedom" into his campaign apparatus, essentially acknowledging that he can't, like, BEAT Shumlin, but what he CAN do is kiss RNC ass by using his campaign as  a test bed for strategies to fight health care reform in other states.

And, as part of the Master Plan, the VTGOP deploys nutshits like Paige to file birther lawsuits and make Brock look sane, especially when he refudiates him.

Overton Windows are people, my friend.

I see a lot of Republicans playing the "let's run from ourselves" game on the federal level.

This is a legitimate rape of the political process, so we need to find a way to shut the whole thing down.

Is this what the Vermont Republican Party has arrived at? Has it finally caught the crazy infecting their ranks in most of the rest of the country?

Apparently, we at Green Mountain Daily are not the only ones asking that question. I got hit up today by Peter Hirschfeld, who writes for the Rutland Herald and Barre-Montpelier Times-Argus, and we chatted for a bit by phone.

Readers of the liberal political blog Green Mountain Daily were treated this weekend to an epic thread spawned by a Friday post (http://www.greenmountaindaily.com/...) from GMD front-pager “kestrel9000,” who broke news of a “birther lawsuit” filed by former Republican candidate for U.S. Senate H. Brooke Paige.

Having lost his primary bid to John MacGovern, Paige won’t get to take on Bernie Sanders in the general election. But he’s apparently turned his sights even higher, and is now trying to get Barack Obama removed from the Vermont ballot. Paige alleges in his lawsuit that the incumbent president isn’t a “natural born citizen.”

Epic thread is right. It's worth a look. And you don't have to wait a day to comment after you register like (cough cough) some places I know...>;)

Anyway, while I didn't do the legwork on this for GMD, I was awarded the privilege of creating the post from everyone else's work.

Garcia said Monday he thinks Paige is an “attention hound” who, after losing the primary, is “hoping for a little bit of ink.”

“Perhaps we erred in giving it to him,” Garcia said.

I award that last statement four Pinocchios.

At any rate, it looks increasingly like this guy is a loon.....but perhaps, a useful one to the VT GOP?

We shall indeed see. H. Brooke Paige can't keep making excuses for not releasing his filing forever.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
