I am part of the 47%. As is my next door neighbor, as is my daughter who lives on the other side of me. And we are all completely unapologetic about it.
I started working at 15 and worked solidly for the next 50 years. During those 50 years all but 3 paychecks had Social Security taken out of them. I was lucky enough that in three years of those 50, I actually earned enough that the last paycheck of the year didn't have Social Security taken out because I had maxed out my contribution. I am now retired and drawing Social Security and not paying Income Tax. I earned my Social Security, so I guess my 50 years of labor doesn't count in Mitt's world. I'm a useless leech.
My wife was married to a career military man and followed him all over the world and raised 5 children in the process. When he retired, they had his pension. But, a military pension stops when the service member dies. So she went back to work. She is now also drawing Social Security. Her 30+ years of being a military wife doesn't count in Mitt's world. She is a useless leech.
My neighbor was still working at 69. He worked for one of the overnight delivery services unloading cargo from airplanes, until he lost his footing and fell out of the cargo bay onto the tarmac, breaing his arm, pelvis, back and two fingers.. He is now disabled and drawing Social Security. His years of labor doesn't count in Mitt's world. He is a useless leech.
My daughter is a widow trying to raise 3 children as a single mom. She works full-time in a doctor's office (with, I might add, no health insurance). She actually pays a negative income tax, since she qualifies for tax credits and that means she gets back more than she has withheld. She works 40+ hours a week while taking care of her children, but in Mitt's world, she is a useless leech with a victim mentality who thinks that she is 'entitled' to food, and shelter, and government payouts.
We cannot allow this man to become President.
