A Quinnipac/NYT/CBS poll has Obama winning Wisconsin likely voters 51-45, and that, says the Times, "marks a slight shift in Mr. Obama’s direction since Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin joined the Republican ticket last month." Ouch.
Wisconsin women favor Obama 55-41 and men favor Willard Mitt by a mere two points. The key?
The poll also found that Mr. Obama has a 17-point edge over Mr. Romney when voters are asked if a candidate cares about their needs and problems.
The poll had Dem Tammy Baldwin and Republican Tommy Thompson
deadlocked for Senate, at 47% each, with 6% undecided, but the trendline doesn't exactly favor former Governor Thompson, especially when you throw in yesterday's
DFA/PPP poll showing Baldwin with a narrow lead. Of course, with other avenues to 270 having long since shut tighter than a Romney staffer's sphincter, Team Galt about to dump a ton of TV ads on the Land of Encheesement, but methinks their new "Makers vs. Moochers" pitch will be a tough sell in a graying manufacturing state, just as it is in Virginia. From the
Times piece:
“I’m not a bottom-feeder like they try to make us out to be,” said Eddie Gochenour, 66, a retired engineer from Danville, Va., who said he had been a Republican for 44 years but intended to support Mr. Obama.
“I earned what I’m getting, and worked all my life for my benefits. I have a good nest egg, but I also earned what I’m getting from the government.”
