The Richmond Times-Dispatch just posted and email blasted an alert to a new poll done by Quinnipiac on both the Presidential and Senatorial races in the Old Dominion.
The poll was done on behalf of CBS and the New York Times, and was part of their swing-state project.
President Barack Obama maintains a lead over GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney among likely voters in Virginia, posting a 4-point advantage in this swing state, according to a poll released this morning.
In the U.S. Senate race, Democrat Timothy M. Kaine leads Republican George Allen 51 – 44 percent.
We are now seeing a variety of polls all noting the same thing, albeit by different margins -
presidentially Virginia at least leans Obama's way.
Kaine is beginning to move clearly ahead of Allen.
“Racial polarization in the presidential election nationally is on display in Virginia where blacks back the president 93–5 percent and whites go for Romney 57–39 percent,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
“Looking at the subgroup of evangelical Christians who share similar religious beliefs, the president leads 93–6 percent among black evangelicals, while Romney leads among white evangelicals 78–17 percent.”
.
As Kos noted of the Washington Post poll yesterday, there seems to be stronger enthusiasm for Obama among Democrats than for Romney among Republicans.
Sorry for the post and run, but have to get on the road.
