Hello - This is my first diary so I hope I'm not breaking any rules of etiquette. I've been reading DailyKos for years but just signed up with an account last week.

I'm feeling pretty confident about President Obama's reelection chances but I feel that in order to truly move our country forward we must give him a Congress he can work with so it seems like that should be the focus.

In order to help with this goal of getting a new Congress, I've set up an ActBlue donation page that is focused on 50 Democratic House candidates who are in either "Toss Up" or "Lean Republican" districts (according to the NY Times.)

As you can see on the ActBlue page I've also recorded a little song with this "We Don't Need A New President, We Need a New Congress" theme that I've just finished today. My music is quite weird so I won't be offended if you don't like it, I'm just trying to bring attention to these congressional races and hopefully get some donations to these candidates!

The reason I went to the trouble of finding these candidates in close races and setting up this page with them all together is that I think sometimes we get distracted by the glitzy races (ie: trying to beat Eric Cantor or Paul Ryan) and don't donate enough of our resources to the candidates in races that are really close and that can tip the scales one way or the other.

We have to get the gavel out of John Boehner's hand!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
