Today, the anger that the Chinese people feel toward Japan over the islands called Senkaku by Japan and Diaoyu in China, overflowed into a protest against a target of opportunity: the car of US Ambassador to China, Gary Locke (link to Seattle Times Article).
Not a good incident in the best of times, but really bad now since it follows so closely after Ambassador Chris Stevens' recent murder.
During his second term (knock on wood), President Obama is going to be confronted with a world where the new Chinese leadership may find themselves under intense internal pressures from weakening manufacturing performance, possibly their own real estate and banking crisises, trade pressures and conflicts with America and Europe, and, due to bashing from both China and South Korea, probably a much more nationalist leaning Japan.
Good luck, Mr. President.
