In yet another bold and daring anti-government move Rand Paul once again proves he just doesn't give a shit, he is the honey badger of Ayn Randian philosophy.

What the hell has giving our veterans a helping hand have to do with aid we give Pakistan, Libya, or Egypt?

Step 1

The obstruction is a replay of last week's Senate session when Paul stood in the way of a veterans' jobs bill in an effort to see his anti-Pakistani funding bill on the floor.
Well maybe that isn't enough so add

Step 2

After rebels seized the U.S. embassy in Egypt and Libyan rebels murdered four Americans including Libyan Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Paul is calling for a bill to halt funding to those nations as well.
This is just making shit up so as to avoid actually being a responsible member of the senate. There should be a law that they cannot leave DC unless they actually produce something useful, in other words they stay in on the floor of the senate with no bathroom breaks until they see reason.

They then wonder why congress is about as popular as the ebola virus and about as dangerous.

So here we have the veterans of two of the longest and most pointless wars in American history are being held hostage by an anti-government dick, who by his own philosophy should by rights be one of the unemployed.

Never mind who sent them into two simultaneous conflicts the fact of the matter is.

1] They were sent.

2] They served their country without question, nor did they demand that Rand Paul be held hostage until they got their way.

3] They have a right to believe that their country will help them in their time of need. I would call that part of the contract.

This just smacks of any old excuse to do fuck all, as if the deficit hasn't already been exploded by trillions of dollars by pointless wars and irresponsible tax cuts, neither of which have been by any measure successful.

Obstructionist irresponsible GOP dicks populate congress, no wonder MItt Romney is their candidate. All for what? Mere effing politics, that's what.

Next time the Republicans ask the military to fight their pointless wars perhaps then is the time to hold the GOP hostage for the legislation that they will so surely need upon their return. If you cant trust them, get them to sign on the dotted line before you do anything.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

and is loopy father live in a district here in Texas that is downwind of oil refineries.  They grew up and lived there all their lives.  The accumulated pollution has destroyed or suppressed developing brain tissue that would otherwise be used for cogent and logical decision making and communication.

The other 57 Republicans who voted against the veterans jobs bill by blaming spending limits have doubled down on hypocrisy, because they are screaming bloody murder about the agreement they made to cut the military budget as part of the deal to not let us default on our debt payments.

The pattern here seems to be a commitment to total illogic where the only explanation has to be racism.  There are 310 million people who expect our government to work on their behalf.  Yet, because one man who is not 100% caucasian is the President, the Republican party and their nut case stepchildren, the tea party, have committed to making everyone suffer for their prejudices.  Now it's the veterans' turn to feel the sting of hatred, prejudice and just plain stupidity.

Rand Paul's picture needs to be on that poster.

I've lived in 7 states and visited 42.  Nowhere else is the ignorance of environment more prevalent.  Anything that puts a control on pollution or waste is categorized as "bad for bidness".  Molly Ivins was right about these goobers.  They simply can't go to the second level of thinking.

Some would say that that is the ultimate expression of selfishness and I'd have to agree.  Even the churches preach the gospel of coded fashion, of course.  The hypocrisy everywhere is just blatant; indeed some folks are proud of it here.

On the other hand:  I love where I live - in the hill country outside Austin.  I have made some of the best friends I've ever had in my 70 + years here.  I have met some of the finest, smartest, most generous, caring and thoughtful, reasonable people anywhere, here in Texas.  But somehow these people don't end up in politics or in any other civicly-minded organizations of any strength that can actually do something positive for the citizens who aren't part of the oil/real estate/insurance cabal that runs this state.

Even more frustrating is that the Hispanic/African-American community is in the MAJORITY yet have the lowest voting turnout.  What we end up with is 17%-24% of the eligible population electing goober after goober time after time.  What is frustrating is that nobody seems able to activate this bloc and get rid of Redneck Nation.

Rick Perry is the most worthless politician in Texas since.....George W. Bush.
