The Boston Globe's Andrew Ryan tweets:
Confirmed with 2 sources. RT @gintautasd: Menino expected to endorse Warren Friday http://goo.gl/... #masen #bospoli
And the Dorchester Reporter's
writes:
Mayor Thomas Menino is expected to endorse U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren at a Friday rally in Roslindale, sources tell the Reporter.
The afternoon rally in Roslindale Square will come after a debate scheduled for Thursday night between Warren and U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
Menino has been sitting on his hands for a long time on this one. It's about time he did something right for the voters of the Commonwealth.
He's one of the few Massachusetts politicians whose endorsement can really make a difference. The Boston GOTV operation is a very powerful one.
Andrew Ryan again, this time in the Globe itself:
Mayor Thomas M. Menino is expected to endorse Democrat Elizabeth Warren on Friday in her bid to unseat Republican US Senator Scott Brown, according to two people with knowledge of the plan.
Menino will appear with Warren Friday afternoon at a rally in Adams Park in Roslindale Square, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition anonymity because they had not been authorized to discuss the plan.
The news was first reported Thursday morning on the website of the Dorchester Reporter. The endorsement will end months of speculation about Menino, a Democrat with a close personal relationship with Brown.
