Hell to Pay bug
Last week's Hell to Pay was a barn burner, raising almost $29,000 for Tammy Baldwin in the Wisconsin Senate race in response to the deplorable gay-baiting from her opponent's, Tommy Thompson's, campaign.

That's how it works. We find the worst action by an opponent or outside group against one of our Orange to Blue, Daily Kos endorsed candidates, and we make them pay. And you get to decide who benefits, by nominating candidates off of our Orange to Blue list in comments here. Then tomorrow evening, we'll vote on which candidate should "win" the week by having the worst opponent in the world. The fundraising vengeance happens Saturday night.

But, this week, I have a feeling that this one is going to be hard to beat. This is an ad from The National Republican Trust PAC against Jim Graves, who is trying to bring Minnesota's 6th District back to sanity by defeating Rep. Michele Bachmann. You know her, right? Right. Here's one group that is wholly opposed to sanity, running this ad about, you guessed it, the Muslim Brotherhood.

Bachmann said that that Muslim Brotherhood had infiltrated the federal government, infiltrated the State Department through an aide to Hillary Clinton. She's said that her colleague in her state's delegation, Rep. Keith Ellison, has ties to the organization. As Jim Graves said, that's both "outrageous" and "ridiculous." The NRT PAC says that that means "Jim Graves defends Muslim Brotherhood."

So, what have you seen out there against one of these candidates that can beat this one? Nominate away in the comments.

Note: Because Tammy Baldwin was last week's featured candidate, she's ineligible this week. And, remember, only Orange to Blue candidates are eligible.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I really have no idea about Warren's family.  But true or not, many families have stories that go way, way, ... like WAY back, and the stories get told and retold, then misunderstood and retold again.  I think a Native American heritage story is totally cool for any number of reasons -- not just for being "true" or "not true." Like it or not, people are connected to the past in amazingly direct ways.

Joe is blowing $1million in the next 12 days trying to besmirch a veteran!

We reach out to staff, make personal contact, explain our process, send on the questionnaire.

It's VERY important to this community that certain stances of candidates are clear -- we don't want to end up with a Blue Dog or someone who is anti-choice, for example.

Her campaign never answered the questionnaire.

Campaigns often will do this for strategic reasons, keep in mind. Maybe they DO agree with our stands, but don't want to state it publicly for fear it will hurt their election chances. Or maybe in their district, they fear that association with Daily Kos or "outside" liberal money can be used against them.

We respect those judgments. And we figure campaigns know their territory, their business, and who will hurt and help them better than we do.

And let's turn that seat blue!

Make it end!  Let the credits roll on her vanity campaign. In seriousness: she spent $50 Million last time and is en route to another $50m.  In a state with 2 million voters.  Murphy needs our $ because he is not well knows in every district.

I really wonder if Tinklenberg could have beat Bachmann in '08 if we had got him money sooner.

FYI I have worked for Bachmann's opponents in her two state senate races and every US House race phoning and door knocking. Sooner or later one of them will help her 'retire.' I continue in spite of the record. One of these campaigns, selfishly, I'd love to attend a victory party.

Ad Watch: Democrats' ad against Dan Lungren overreaches on 'Wall Street' claim
    Published: Friday, Sep. 14, 2012
Analysis: Paid for by House Majority PAC and Service Employees International Union, the ad is part of a broader effort to paint the incumbent Republican House members as too close to Wall Street, which is held in low regard now. It lacks context, however, and doesn't substantiate the conclusion that Lungren is a Wall Street pawn who does nothing for the middle class.

    /snip

In 2009, Lungren voted against federal legislation aimed at enacting regulatory changes for the financial industry in the wake of the 2008 economic collapse. Many Republicans opposing the bill argued that it was too costly, would cut off access to credit and could hurt job creation.

    Read more here: http://www.sacbee.com/...

Yes, dear citizens, Mr Lungreen is all about creating jobs.

Ami Berra has an excellent chance of taking this seat from a hardcore predictable Republican.   Volunteers are going door to door to door every single day. They're working the phones, talking to neighbors, working working working.

But it takes lots of cash too and every little bit helps.
