Who is Anonymous? Who donated this autographed picture of "Paul Krugman is tired of trying to reason with you people" as Bob Barnes to the Netroots Nation auction? As one person said at NN this year, 'This is the coolest thing I've ever held in my hands!'
Who donated it? Barrett Brown? Julian Assange? Sir Francis Bacon? George Clooney?
Even better (maybe). I did! I am anonymous, and I have regrets. You see, it is one of the coolest things I've ever had, and now I don't. (I am bidding on the other coolest thing--this amazing iPad signed by Howard Dean, which I didn't donate) But since I can't have the Krugman photo, I hope it will go to someone who will treasure it and frame it about brag about it.
There is also this autographed photo of Paul Krugman.
And there's also this great autographed photo by Van Jones.
And of course, this autographed photo of Elizabeth Warren. I'm still hoping to have one of those to put in my office at work after she wins her senate race!
But the autographed photo of Krugman as Clooney in Syriana, blowing up the car, just delights me. While I have a little pang of 'this nearly was mine,' I'm happy to know that it will support the community that supports me.
The auction is important to Netroots Nation. I know how important having money for things like radio headsets is. That first year, we had to use our cell phones because I think there were only 4 radios, but the cell phones didn't work throughout the hotel. This year, we had a dozen or so, and it made it SO much easier to make the show run smoothly.
I rely on Netroots Nation to recharge my batteries, and I'm so grateful that we have this community, nurturing us all as we work for a little more justice and transparency. Donating and buying a few things nurtures Netroots Nation back. Please. Go to the auction and find a few things you might want. You might even get a great deal! Or an autographed photo of Paul Krugman!
