The GOP will allow the tax credit for US wind power generation to expire on December 31st. The industry was just beginning to get established in the US, but over the last several years more than 10,000 jobs have been lost due to lack of government support, such as tax subsidies...most of the direct opposition to wind power in the US comes from the GOP, which is financed largely by the oil, coal and gas companies...all of which still get very heavy subsidies from the taxpayers The GOP has complained in TV ads about the idea of removing the billions in subsidies to oil companies-they say it would cost jobs-but they have strongly opposed continuing the small subsidies for the US's fledgling wind power manufacturers...the GOP says they have been subsidized long enough and should be well established by now...I guess we should have stopped giving tax money to the oil companies several decades ago...
