With the Romney campaign melting down and many Democratic Senate candidates doing well, the chance that Democrats might retake the US House of Representatives (by winning a net 25 seats) seems much more possible. DailyKos is supporting 17 solid progressive Democrats (so far). What about other progressive organizations?
Below is a table listing 72 71 Democrats running for the House that have garnered an endorsement from one or more of 9 progressive organizations: DailyKos, Credo, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), Blue America, Democracy for America (DFA), the League of Conservation Voters, Feminist Majority, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and Alternet.
DailyKos Elections currently lists 11 of these races as “Safe Democratic” and 14 as “Safe Republican” leaving 47 46 of them in active play, with 19 of them ranked as tossups.
Of these 72 71 races, there are 44 42 incumbent Republicans and 8 incumbent Democrats, including three two one Democrats who were was pitted against a Republican incumbents by redistricting (OH-16 Sutter-Renacci, AZ-08 Barber-Franks, and NY-25 Slaughter-Buerkle). Note that several progressive favorites (such as Darcy Burner in WA-01 and Eric Griego in NM-01) were defeated in Democratic primaries, so are not listed here.
Incumbents (shown in bold) have Progressive Punch scores for 2011-12 (100=Votes Progressive) and DW-Nominate scores (-1=progressive, +1=conservative) where those are available.
