Friend,
When I first heard that my friend Christie Vilsack was running for Congress, I had just one question for her: What could I do to help?
After all, Christie's always been there for the people who need her. She's been there for her students as their teacher. She's been there for her communities as an activist. And I watched as she was there for all Iowans as our First Lady, advocating for children's health and literacy.
I can't think of anyone better to represent our state in the House, and I hope you will join me in doing whatever you can to support her campaign. I've run in enough races to know how important these end-of-quarter deadlines are, and the very last one of 2012 is here. There's no better time to help Christie.
Will you contribute to Christie's "Fifty Plus One" $51,000 fundraising drive, before the end-of-quarter deadline, and help Christie Vilsack fight for Iowa with me in Washington?
This isn't just about electing an amazing leader like Christie to the House of Representatives. It's also about defeating one of the Republicans' most extreme, partisan ideologues. Steve King has consistently been one of the most extreme voices in Congress, and he doesn't speak for the Iowa we know.
But Christie, born and raised in Iowa, would fight for our values in Congress. She'll work with me to get drought-stricken farmers the relief they need. She'll protect Social Security and Medicare from cuts and privatization. She'll work with her colleagues to grow our economy and create jobs -- instead of running for the TV cameras to launch another hyper-partisan attack.
I'm proud to stand next to Christie and give her my strong support. You should be too. With national Republicans already dumping money in to protect Steve King and right-wing interests on the attack, she needs our help now more than ever.
The end-of-quarter deadline is here, so please don't delay.
Show Christie we have her back. Will you contribute to her "Fifty Plus One" Fund today, before the end-of-quarter deadline, and makes sure she has what she needs to win?
Thank you for all your support, of me, of Christie, and of all our shared progressive values.
Sincerely,
Tom Harkin
U.S. Senator
I am a friend of both Vilsacks. I recently spent most of a week in Ames volunteering for Christie. As I noted in
this recent diary Christie has already gotten very close to King in the polls, and in
this diary how she did in a Thursday debate.
We want to get King out of the House.
We need this seat to take control of the House.
Please consider helping.
Thanks.
