I'm not a computer wizard by anyone's measuring stick, but I find this quite interesting. I guess it could be Facebook tailoring things to my likings based on how I play on FB, but nonetheless this is quite interesting to me. I'm curious to see if anyone else has run across this as well.
From Facebook, if I search for "OBA" (That's as far as I need to go to get the following result:
I get seeing Obama at the top of the search list. But, Romney appears second as a "sponsored" search result. Is this akin to his buying of Twitter hashtags during the conventions?
To be fair, I then searched for Romney and had to take a break to wipe the tears of laughter out of my eyes. Here is the search for Romney:
I get that Ryan's position at the top is also sponsored, but who in the world sponsored his FB page to appear in the first slot of a search for Romney? And how did Romney become the THIRD result in a search for his own name?!
What I honestly do not know is if this was simply a fluke based on my browsing history or if this is what most or all people will see using the same searches. To test the fluke theory, I tried these searches repeatedly over about a week and got the same results every time.
Oh well, it brought a chuckle to my day, even if it's only happening for me.
If you have a Facebook account and are a little bored, please try the searches and let me know in the comments if you got similar results.
