I woke up in front of TV mid way through the night and had some amusing thoughts about the debate mostly thanks to Romney, and shaking my head at the brlliance of the President.  Let's see what the pundits are missing but I think will be picked up as we get further from the main event.  My initial impression on the debate performances was Romney more aggressive with lies, Obama too laid back with the truth. To me Romney helped clarify....

how Obama will address the fiscal challenges of the federal government. Ask yourself this, based on the debate do you know how Romney is going to reduce the debt? He's giving everyone a pony, no defense, tax, education or medicare cuts, some loopholes and reduce NPR's budget (bye bye Big Bird). Do you know how Obama will reduce debt? Cut defense budget, raise taxes, invest in education, extend healthcare, bring better deliveries and efficiencies to the healthcare system. Romney did a lot to show how Obama is a better fiscal hawk and caring leader than he. Oh and Romeny also let it be known that Obama has and want to invest in renewable energy.  Thanks Mitt, I'm sure swing voters--think Nevada and Iowa--must be loving this.  Also, the cuts to Medicare which Obama makes but Romney says he will return, will have seniors thinking--who has a group have frequent doctor visits--but I don't have to pay more out of pocket expense for my visits or treatments and I received a check towards my prescription drugs, and I now have covered well visits. Forget the fact checkers these are things voters can assess based on their real live experience.

But what I truely appreciate is Obama not mentioning the 47% video. Consider if he had. The media would have sound bites to replay over and over again. Romney may have given an answer that would be consider "good" and/or make it appear his comments were similar to the old Obama "bitter and guns" tape.  You see by not mentioning the 47% video there are no sound bites to reduce the impact of the Obama TV Ads using Romney's comments.  So the Obama campaign can go on airing the ads leaving their full impact in its wake, and without any sound bite from the debate, the Romney campaign has nothing to help counter the affect of the Obama Ads. Love it!!!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
