Mitt Romney has time and time again attacked public education on the campaign trail and to his base. Mitt Romney does not support public education and the education of the working class youth.
Last night on the debate he said he would end funding for PBS. The federal budget only spends 0.012% on PBS. Getting ride of the funding for PBS would not even scratch the surface of the overall federal budget. His statements however does illustrate where his values and priorities are and they are not with the children of working class families. His priorities are not with PBS sprout that offers a wide range of fun education shows and an interactive website for children and parents. As a parent Romney basically said death to Big Bird and death to education programming for young children.
Last nights debates and the fear of killing Big Bird drives home an even greater fear for my family and many families across the nation in terms of the wider discussion of education. My oldest child is learning different. He attends a DOD school and receives special education three times a week. If Mitt Romney is elected children like my son will suffer the most when it come to education. Not only will the overall education be cut across the nation but I fear that special education in some school districts will become non existent.
True to form Romney and his base care nothing for the education of our youth in this nation unless the child is fortunate enough to have parents that can pay for private education.
