....there's Iowa.
For whatever reason, in Iowa, Republicans are starting to catch up in absentee ballot requests, but they are still severely lagging in actual voting. Of course, that will likely change a bit given last night's debate. But we shall see.
In any case, here are the latest figures from Iowa:
Absentee ballot requests:
Dems 155,592 (53.16%)
Reps 74,354 (25.40%)
Inds 62,507 (21.36%)
Oth 241 (negligible)
TOTAL 292,694
Since last report:
Dems +5,362
Reps +9,564
Ind +3,740
And here are the figures for ballots cast:
Dems 59,692 (63.23%)
Reps 17,640 (18.69%)
Inds 16,735 (17.73%)
Oth 68 (negligible)
TOTAL 94405
Since last report:
Dems +15,866
Reps +4,253
Inds +4,584
The Democratic percentage of returned ballots is up a tenth of a percentage point from the previous report. This means that Democratic ballot returns continue to accelerate at a slightly faster pace than Republican or Independent ballot returns.
I just thought everyone around here could use some good news. The ground game is more important than anything else.
