Barack, you did not make me proud. You made me disappointed. You were not prepared. You were not informed. You were not clear. In a nutshell: you were weak.
You failed to point Romney's substantial lies. You failed to talk about your record of success. You failed to talk about the success of the auto industry. I never heard the phrase _ months of private-sector job growth.
You were not the president I voted for 4 years ago. You've got my vote, but unless you do better you won't get my support. So please, do better.
I never want to watch another Democratic presidential candidate do as poor a job as you did last night.
Sure, Jim Leher did piss poor job. Sure, anyone watching this debate would think that the only aspects of domestic policy that matter are the ones that involve dollar signs. But where were you, Barack?
Why didn't you integrate immigration as it affects the economy, jobs, education? How in the hell did you let that obvious one go by?
Why didn't you integrate the idea that Mitt Romney would have let the auto industry go bankrupt and how that would have killed jobs?
Why didn't you bring up campaign finance? Is that not domestic policy? Doesn't it involve dollar signs?
Why didn't you bring up gay marriage?
In baseball terms, you let Romney slide in under the tag. Well, we rely on you to block the damned plate. You're supposed to not only take the hit, but deliver one.
When Romney lies, you're supposed to know what lies he's going to spread and bring the facts and his record to bear. You're the president and a constitutional lawyer and you let some sack of crap in an expensive suit school you on tax laws about offshoring jobs. I've been listening to you talk about taking away tax breaks for off-shoring jobs for years, and you let this guy call you liar. How about "You've been in business for 25 years. True. And after 25 years if you won't take $10 in cost cuts for every $1 in revenue it's no wonder so many of the business you tried to turn around failed."?
Why not tell the American people that most of the debt owed by the U.S. is owed to OUR citizens, not China?
If there's one thing you surely have learned over 4 years of being the leader of this country it's that some times you have to do someone else's job for them. No, Barack, we can't accept that someone else didn't do their job. You didn't do your job.
And if you don't step it up, you're going to lose your job. Period.
