More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  OF COURSE they're fudged (0+ / 0-)

look at the corrections after the fact... never mind all the conditions.  Unemployment ends - you're off the system... underemployed, part-time....  look at the workforce participation percentage

BOTH PARTIES PLAY GAMES WITH NUMBERS - and have since the 70's

Obama is better than Romney but please.... be real about what has and has not been accomplished.

Sadly Obama continued with 'the same old game' instead of coming into office and saying:

"Things are far worse than we've admitted - THIS is the reality - Unemployment is REALLY 20+%, GDP has been negative through ALL of W's Presidency, Inflation numbers are understated...."

but no.... MOPE (management of perspective economics)concentrates on the ILLUSION of progress not reality.

Obama caved to the Repubs and did too little - the Repubs blocked and fought so they could blame Obama for the lack of progress and he's allowing that meme to go on.

Blindly cheering for one side or the other doesn't help - nor do fudged numbers.  NOBODY but NOBODY believes unemployment stats or inflation numbers.

    By the way:

NEITHER candidate said ONE WORD about the massive - and continuing - outsourcing of jobs overseas in the debate.

Manufacturing has been shipped overseas Data Processing and programming are gone.  Call centers and customer support are gone and now accounting is going.

    Some saw it coming

Life isn't fair but you should try to leave it fairer than you found it.

  •  Jobs, contrary to what Republicans (0+ / 0-)

believe, are not the be all and end all of existence. As a percentage of the adult population, the number of people employed for wages is now back to where it was at the end of the sixties, before it became necessary for two people to earn a wage to survive. What we have seen in the intervening years is more people working longer for less money, which does not mean people are better off.  Indeed, the falling longevity expectations for the middle class are signs that people are sicker and the need for medical care is not an indulgence.  People are tired and sick from being worked to death for meager wages. Why?  Because the supply of money has been artificially restricted to the upper one percent.  And that one percent, while they live comfortably themselves, use that money, not to spur enterprise, exchange and trade; rather they gamble with it on Wall Street and pass it around amongst themselves. It does nobody any good -- except if you think that vicarious self-abuse is good.
    To see what I mean:

We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.
