Because what Dailykos really needs is another Big Bird diary. However, this is such a big deal because of the number of ways PBS affects Americans:
Barbara Starr, CNN’s Pentagon reporter, asked Pentagon Press Secretary George Little about the Department of Defense’s work with the Sesame Street Workshop.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Wednesday night during the first debate that while he “likes Big Bird” he wanted to cut funding to the Public Broadcasting System.
The Pentagon has worked with the Sesame Workshop to develop a program for military families to help the children of service members whose parents have been deployed overseas, wounded or killed in action.
On Wednesday the Defense Department and Sesame Work shop announced a new mobile application that contains articles, storybooks and videos for military families.
As a business-man Mitt should have know that Big Bird is a Big F**** Deal. Even the Pentagon thinks so!
Mr. Little appeared to sense a no-win question, but quickly praised the partnership with Sesame Street. “I will say we have had a long lasting and effective partnership with Sesame Street, they have supported military children,” he said.
Why o' why would Mitt throw military families under the Romney-Wagon?
These issues were addressed through interpersonal disputes among its Street characters. During the 1980s, the show incorporated the real-life experiences of the show's cast and crew, including the death of Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) and the pregnancy of Sonia Manzano (Maria) to address affective concerns. In later seasons, Sesame Street addressed real-life disasters such as the September 11 terrorist attacks and Hurricane Katrina
