Todd Akin, the Republican US Senate nominee from Missouri, the guy that said women are gullible and abortion doctors are unethical.

Akin also said that those abortion doctors are 'terrorists' who perform abortions on women who aren't even pregnant (and yes he really said it on the floor of the House of Representatives). This is also the guy that said that victims of 'legitimate rape' could 'shut down' and not become pregnant.

Hopefully this will be the last nail in his coffin/campaign and Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill can retain her seat.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri congressman Todd Akin has amended a decade's worth of federal financial reports to add nearly $130,000 in state pension income that he received over that time.

Akin's office provided The Associated Press with a copy of the updated personal financial disclosure reports Thursday after being asked why he had not listed his retirement benefits. Akin's office released a letter dated Tuesday to the House Ethics Committee in which the Republican congressman described the lack of information about his pension payments as an "unintentional oversight."

Akin receives a state pension because he previously served in the Missouri House. He is running this year against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Apparently this isn't the first time.  This from se portland in the comments:
Akin amends financial reports
In July 2011, Akin amended his reports from 2001 through 2010 to show his stake in properties owned by family partnerships in the St. Louis and Cape Cod, Mass., areas. A spokesman said at the time that Akin did not originally think the items needed disclosure because he has no controlling interest and received no money from the properties, but he later listed them based on an advisory opinion he sought from the House Ethics Committee.
Akin included those properties on the annual report he filed this May, valuing his share of the Massachusetts property between $250,001 and $500,000 and his share of the two St. Louis-area properties between $15,001 and $50,000 each. The financial reporting forms categorize assets by dollar-value ranges instead of requiring a precise figure.

Question:  If Congressman Todd Akin loses to Senator McCaskill will he still retain his seat in Congress or did he give it up to run agaiinst McCaskill?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
