Seriously, how can a major party candidate—the Republican nominee for President—bring Big Bird into the fray of politics and the media and the public did not laugh him off stage. Really, Big Bird will save the U.S. from economic disaster, a disaster cause by a previous Republican President, and a disaster the current President is correcting, albeit slowly. With high employment numbers, a major ongoing war, high gas price and a slew of other problems and Romney propose getting rid of Big Bird as his solution … and again the pundits wonder why Obama lost the debate.
How can an astute person like Obama debate Romney when lies, Big Bird, flip flops, are the norms? Right after the debates, the spinners and fact checkers all pointed to these Romney’s lies. But, the following morning the headlines were about Big Bird. If you honestly think about it, the use of Big Bird was a ploy by Romney and his team. Remember, before the debates Romney signal that he will not allow the President to be untruthful during the debates. There was no evidence that the President was going to be deceitful, but Romney put that claim out there. Was he signaling to us that he was prepared to lie? I do believe so. And, in my view that why Big Bird became a part of the debate, Big Bird was a decoy to keep our mind occupied and off the dishonesty of Romney and his team.
