Very short diary. I hope it doesn't break any rules.
Many at DailyKos are upset about the debate. The far more important event, the one that will resonate beyond a bounce in right-leading polls, is the jobs report. Not only did we learn that unemployment is down, but found that the situation of the summer was far less dire than we thought.
This absolutely knocks out the rationale for Romney's presidency. What does the guy offer the American people, if the economy is gathering steam and healing. Very little. The reaction of Jack Welsch and others on the right were an acknowledgment of this. The president will win 300+ EVs. That always was the case. Ironically, this week -- in which the president lost the debate -- ends up sealing it.
Put another way, would you have preferred a great debate performance--and a lousy jobs report? Me either. Of course it would have been better to have a great report and a great debate, but things don't always work out that way. Bottom line: It didn't look that way, but it was a good week.
