Message I received on my phone machine this morning:

"Hi, this is Crossroads GPS with a message about Elizabeth Warren.
Elizabeth Warren is part of the 1%, 1% truth and 99% fiction.
Professor Warren claims to be the brains behind the Occupy Wall Street movement.
She has been accused of scientific misconduct and she claimed to be of Native American descent when no such record of that exists.
Elizabeth Warren is 100% out of touch with reality
Vote no on Elizabeth Warren for US Senate.
Paid for by Crossroads GPS.  Not authorized by any candidate or any candidate's committee.

Crossroads GPS is Karl Rove's group.  Mr Rove is one devious m#therfcker and f@therr@per.

This is the second robocall I've received from Crossroads GPS, the first I caught on tape and transcribed.  I expect more with new, improved innuendo and character assassination.  Especially appreciate the subversion of the 1% meme.  Wonder if some hacker will take up the challenge of jamming that Crossroads phone number.

Wouldn't be surprised if some Repug outfit organizes a flurry of robocalls a few days before the election from, ostensibly, the Warren campaign, just to piss off likely voters.

More and slimier robocalls to be expected?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

If the deal covered robocalls from outside groups... this is why you don't make deals with Republicans. Bad Faith is as important as pissing off liberals and tax cuts in their ranks.

What a shock that the ratfucking prep school version of thug-life GOPers don't do good faith.

I think this is why the disclaimer is included:

"Not authorized by any candidate or any candidate's committee."

Warren can complain to Brown.  Brown can throw up his hands and say, "We have no control over such an independent entity although we condemn (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) their Constitutionally guaranteed activities." The Crossroads can continue their robocalling.

Entirely about Warren's "character issue" about her claiming Native American decent.
It went into some detail with a timeline how she called herself WHite then Native American then WHite again. THis was supposed to be suspicious and it drew the conclusion she was dishonest.

    It sickened me.
No one is countering him adequately. I hope Warren's "high road" won't cost her the election but honestly fear it will. She is NOT DEFENDING HERSELF as far as I can see. No spokespeople are explaining or defending her.

Brown is playing off the fact that we in MA don't know many Native Americans, unlike in OK where Warren was raised. People don't know that it's normal to claim to be NA if you are as little as 1/32 NA (some chiefs are that...I think the leader of the Cherokees is) and the sad reasons why that is (so few pure blooded relatively left, I imagine).  SInce they lack that data it Looks like Brown's accusations may be the explanation for why she did what she did. HEre, many people are of Italian or Irish decent ...if you were 1/32nd  Italian you'd not call yourself Italian it'd feel like a lie.

She has not run ads AT ALL with his voting record. No flyer with this. She must think people in MA know. Most do not pay attention and believe him when he said he voted as a moderate. The average voter does not understand the nuances of the Senate or totally buy into the obstruction he contributed to.
No spokespeole are out there talking about this. Not enough people know her well or watch debates and  they tend to need a solid REASON to fire an incumbant. SHe is not giving enough of a reason in her ads because of honoring the agreement not to go negative, I think

And no pac money was also an agreement...he broke it with these Robocalls so she should too.

If anyone has connections with the Warren campaign I would love to pass on some of my thoughts (or these thoughts above). I predicted Coakley would loose a month before the election but could not get them to listen to me. I hope I am wrong now in what I am seeing...someone with high integrity who keeps agreements that may lead to her loss. That's what I see here.

I passed my robocall note to a friend who will most certainly relay it to ears in the Warren campaign who can hear.

At least you made the call.  If they start hearing it from different directions, they'll change.  I was put off by her first string of ads as she was sounding like a hectoring schoolmarm to me.  Others said the same thing.  The ads have now changed for the better with others speaking for Warren and Warren lightening her tone as well.

are not covered, just ads on TV, radio, and internet.  And she IS defending herself and she IS going negative on him, she's just not going as low as him.  Just look at all these ads:

Even Mayor Menino cut an ad for her:

I don't know why you think she isn't striking back enough.  She may not have in the past, but she is now.

I don't watch much TV so maybe I am not seeing her ads. Or she isn't running them before she did not run enough ads just introducing  herself this summer so people know her. She had introduction ads in the spring when many voters who are less engaged (ie the ones she needs to convince to fire the incumbent) were not paying attention.
I am hearing from less attune voters that they do not know her or are just getting to know her.

That first ad, a radio ad, is very smart and powerful! It gives me hope and some relief, so thanks! I hope it is running often enough on the right stations. I'm not, as a voter, being reached by her communications but maybe I'm not attuned the media she runs them on. The mailers I've gotten have reached me and I've gotten only one  from her, several from as I said that was very ugly. I guess she is not running them on NPR!

    •  Her ads are better than that (1+ / 0-)
      Recommended by:

She is responding to his claims, with a very good ad.  It's one where she says that he can impugn her family, but she'll fight for yours.  Classy.  Her campaign is also talking about his votes against jobs bills and against tax cuts for the 98%, where he insisted on cuts for the top 2% too.

Tonight's WCVB-TV news had a Western New England U poll with Warren leading 50-45.  WCVB, of course, employed Brown's wife, Gail Huff, as an on-air reporter, until he ran for Senate.  It isn't Fox but there's a bit of bias in the coverage.  They described that poll as extremely close and within the 4.7% margin of error.  You do the math.

Brown's ads are pathetic. The whole Indian thing is a thinly disguised dogwhistle.  He's aiming for the old anti-busing crowd, which explains Ray Flynn.  Brown's home constituency is the white backlash suburbs, and by stressing her claim of Indian heritage, the implication is that she's against whites, or embarrassed to be white.  In other words, it's thinly disguised accusation of "niggerlover".

      •  her intial ads were not better (0+ / 0-)

IMO. They've improved. Many people felt her passion came across a bit stridently...perhaps because she was already somehow tagged with the "strident teacher" meme.

For me their is a difference between liking Brown's ads (I don't) and seeing them through other's eyes and being concerned they are effective. I think his "driving in truck talking about self" ad(s) may have been very effective especially with non urban people, especially men. 'I'm a regular guy, see?" they said.

If only Warren could go the so many ways he's not a "regular working  class guy". He's a lawyer for goodness sake...his hands are plenty dirty. Even in the debate Warren would not attack him (not her style) personally when he talked about how much she made for a living.

he knows she won't throw it back at him.

        •  to be clear (0+ / 0-)

I find his behavior and racial attacks to be disgusting. I wonder if it is racist OR (try this on) it's an anti-affirmative action argument (racist on a broader level, perhaps). I think he does not think she is a minority...he seems to think she IS WHITE ('cause she looks it!) and is taking advantage unfairly.

that was the gist of a flyer from him I got in my mailbox. How she's intermittently claimed White or Native American over if that proves she really isn't a minority and just used it for gain.  Which it does not if you understand the context.

I am not sure that he is getting as much support as he use to. When President Obama gets reelected that will diminish Karl Rove's credibility by a wide margin.

just received flyer from Americans for Tax Reform (Norquist).

1,  Despite being paid $200,000 for a part-time government job, Professor Elizabeth Warren refused to disclose how her Congressional Oversight Committee spent more than $10 million in taxpayer money.

    2.  Our middle class families spent billions to bailout Wall Street banks and greed who caused the financial meltdown to begin with -- yet Professor Elizabeth Warren was unable to provide proper oversight to ensure our tax dollars were spent responsibly.

We can't afford to have this Professor back in Washington:
Vote No on Elizabeth Warren for Us Senate.

Pretty weak, and designed around the opening gambit of "This is one expensive game of CLUE. " I am really  surprised that this flyer is so unsophisticated.
