Just for those worry-warts, here's some news from Gallup:
Yesterday:
Obama Job Approval: Approve: 48, Disapprove: 46
Head to Head: O: 49, R: 46
Today:
Job Approval: Approve: 51, Disapprove: 44
Head to Head: O: 50, R: 45
Gallup's Job Approval numbers are based on a three day rolling average, which means Sunday's numbers were much better than the numbers they replaced, from Thursday -- the day after the debate dominated by Mitt Romney's falsehoods and his Etch-A-Sketch maneuvers on policy.
What happened to blunt Romney's momentum on Friday, oh yeah, the job numbers. The ones only crazy truthers question.
Combine this with numbers from one day polls (also Sunday, 10/7) from Rasmussen (!) on Iowa and Colorado that show improvement (the link is to Joelgp's diary) for Obama vs. pre-debate polls, and it looks like the benefit Romney gained from the debate may well be temporary. Lies may work in the short run, but the truth will out.
PS-Rasmussen's Daily Tracker, also based on the previous three days of polling, showed a bump for Obama in head to head, which went from Romney +2 to dead even, and in Job Approval, which went from Obama +1 to Obama +2. This improvement means that Sunday's numbers were better than Thursday for Rasmussen as well as Gallup, which is the day that dropped out of the three day tracker posted today for both. Let's hope this is a meaningful trend.
