|The Daily Bucket is a place where we post and exchange our observations about what is happening in the natural world in our neighborhood. Bugs, buds, birds - each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.
When is Behavior Information?
It isn't new to my yard, or the neighborhood or the feeder even, but I think it is still telling me something. One or more Nuttall's are year round regulars in the neighborhood and even in my yard. Other woodpeckers make their presence known at times, too, the odd hairy or downy and now and then a flicker. The Nutall's is often found on the peanut feeder, but only at certain times of the year - a connection that I just made. He's around all year, yeah, but he hits the feeders in Fall, Winter and part of Spring. My guess is that his natural food sources are drying up about now.
OK, so how about your chunk of the universe? What is nature up to in your area, and where, in general, is that? Please, as usual, add your reports to the comments thread.
