Romney and Ryan have shown that the truth is not relevant to them. They will lie to win. What strategy can Biden tomorrow night, and Obama, use effectively against the lies, while avoiding the "He said, he said" of
"Yes you did."
"No I didn't."
"Yes, you did. You are not entitled to your own facts."
"No, you are not entitled to your own facts."
We get past that using Social Media, specifically YouTube.
The Obama administration should put up short clips on YouTube of Romney and Ryan saying the things that they lie about, such as the 20% across the board tax cut that will cost $4.8 trillion that they deny. And Romney saying about the Middle East that he will "Kick the can down the road." And Ryan talking about the 30%. And Romney talking about the 47%. And Romney, and Ryan, talking about the Medicare voucher plan. And Romney talking about how there would be no "Pre-existing conditions" on his replacement of ObamaCare. And Romney talking about Abortions. And Gun control. Etc., etc.
Once they are up - and they should be on YouTube, NOT on a campaign website - Biden, and later Obama, can look straight into the camera and say,
"My opponent just denied that he called for a 20% across the board tax cut. He absolutely did call for that. But don't take my word for it. Go to YouTube and search for 'Romney 20% tax cut.' You can see him say it for yourself."
Or,
"My opponent just denied that he does not want to dismantle Medicare and replace it with vouchers. He absolutely does call for that. But don't take my word for it, go to YouTube and search for 'Romney Medicare Vouchers.' You can see him say it yourself."
The campaign can probably make several dozen of these, ready for Biden, and then Obama, to refer to during the debates. All they have to do is look straight into the camera and direct the viewers to look it up on YouTube.
Will a lot of people do it? It doesn't matter! The fact that they are there, available on YouTube, will be enough to convince people that what Biden, and later the President, says, must be true, because they wouldn't send people to YouTube unless it was really there.
Finally, what do you think the spin room will be like if that happens? It will be ALL about the videos! Did Romney actually say that? Why, yes, there it is. The post-debate coverage will all be fact-checking that the videos are there. Romney's people will be on their heels.
Again, this CANNOT be on a campaign website. If it's on a campaign website, it becomes propaganda. If it's on YouTube, it's impartial.
This is the Social Media age. This is a Social Media election. When we are up against candidates so cavalierly mendacious, there own words, on the impartial YouTube site, is our best weapon against them.
I implore anyone who reads this, who has connections with the campaign, to push for this to anyone who will listen and is in a position to act on this.
