Today Rob Zerban and his campaign Manager Al Benninghoff were on the ground in Danville, KY today before the Vice Presidential debate. Rob Zerban is challenging Paul Ryan in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District and Paul Ryan has refused to debate Rob Zerban. So they brought the debate to Ryan.
Tonight Vice President Biden will get Paul Ryan to finally answer questions about his radical ideology. And Rob and I have been on the ground today making sure that Paul Ryan and the nation don't forget that he has another race to run in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District. He spoke with MSNBC's Chuck Todd and Chris Matthews, and every Milwaukee/Madison local station and paper on the ground. Watch Rob on Chuck Todd from this morning:
As Rob told Chuck, tonight we're going to continue to see Paul Ryan's "disturbing pattern of dishonesty," he's going to be dodging the questions and avoid using specifics.
Paul Ryan is a great talking points parrot and I'm sure that the only answers will get tonight are the ones that he was fed and has been practicing for weeks.
Those of us in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District know that answers from Paul Ryan are hard to come by. At his listening sessions last year, constituents were thrown out for daring to ask questions. And ever since Paul Ryan started fighting to kill Medicare, our campaign has pushed for an open forum to discuss how his policies would impact the district. So far, Paul Ryan has refused to address his constituents' concerns every step of the way and has yet to respond to
In an interview with CNN today Rob said, "I've been in this race for 19 months and since Paul Ryan was named as Mitt Romney's running mate he's been an absentee candidate. He's not been in the district. He barely comes into the state," Zerban tells CNN. "I feel that he needs to come back to the state and debate the issues for the voters of the first congressional district. If he can fly into Milwaukee and do thousand dollar a plate dinner fundraisers, he surely can take the time and answer their questions."
Paul Ryan has been skating by for seven terms. But no more. Rob has raised more money than all of Paul Ryan's previous challenger's since 2000 combined. We have been up on TV, we're mounting an aggressive direct mail plan, and we've contacted tens of thousands of voters. Paul Ryan may think that a lazy congressional campaign based solely on TV ads will get him reelected, but he will be sorely disappointed on November 7th.
Paul Ryan has refused to debate Rob, and that's why we will continue to bring the fight to wherever Paul Ryan is.
Thank you for supporting the race. Thanks to you a whopping 96% of our donations have been made in amounts less than $100. Keep the momentum going.
