Here are the latest figures out of Iowa.
First here are the numbers for the absentee ballot requests:
Dems 187,655 (47.47%)
Reps 119,434 (30.21%)
Inds 87,911 (22.24%)
Oth 353 (negligible)
TOTAL 395,353
Here are the new ballot requests since the last report:
Dems +6,629
Reps +7,557
Inds +4,944
Republicans held a pretty large lead in ballot requests the previous day, so this represents a narrowing.
And now, here are the numbers for actual ballots cast:
Dems 110,053 (53.33%)
Reps 57,341 (27.79%)
Inds 38,801 (18.80%)
Oth 148 (negligible)
TOTAL 206,343
Here are the ballots cast since the previous daily report:
Dems +8,440
Reps +7,309
Inds +4,072
This is most welcome news. In the previous daily report, new Democratic ballots cast outpaced Republican ones by only 600 votes. In this report, the margin is over 1,100. Could this mean the Romney bounce is fading in Iowa? One can only hope.
