It's Friday afternoon and you know you're just killing time until you can knock off work until next week, so here's a way to pass the time while still looking like you're achieving something. I've gotten you started with a series of limericks summing up last night's debate. Please add your own limericks in the comments, or provide some additional topics for me to write about. Even if you don't want to write any of your own, please "rec" those you like, and those with the top three "rec" scores will get a free customized limerick from your intrepid diarist on the topic of their choice. Martha Raddatz asked both men to sit
She was serious, as was most fit
Unlike Lehrer, poor man
Who fell prey to Mitt's plan
To spend all of his time spewing sh*t
It was clear from the start that old Joe
Was in top fighting form; he would show
"Mister" Ryan that night
How the Scranton boys fight
Throwing blow after blow after blow
For his part, Ryan looked a bit lost
Guess these bullies can't take being bossed
Like a kid getting schooled
With his points overruled
Would his cookies end up being tossed?
While the Kossacks had fretted all week
They could tell when Joe started to speak
He brought passion and class
Laid that kid on his ass
Now our prospects weren't looking that bleak!
As young Ryan kept guzzling water
And gave pundits more sound-bites and fodder
Biden gave him more rope
And then led the poor dope
Like an unwitting lamb to the slaughter
Still more water - what gives? asked his fans
Was this hydration part of his plans?
What on Earth did he think
As he gulped down each drink
"With the Romney team, 'urine' good hands?!"
Ninety minutes went by in a flash
Joe continued to kick and to slash
While young Ryan's dumb smirk
Made him look like a jerk
Who awaited a quick bathroom dash
"Undecideds" could see without doubt
What Joe Biden was really about
When he spoke from the heart
He tore Ryan apart
It's just great when this big dog's let out!
Now it's your turn; I know you'll do great!
Wrapping up this most epic debate
In poetical style
That will bring us a smile
So go load up your limerick plate!
