The most accurate polling ever done has Obama slaughtering Romney. This poll is the 7/11 Coffee Cup Poll. Customers are asked to buy a Blue Obama Cup or a Red Romney Cup, and base the results on cups sold.
According to 7-Eleven's "7-Election" poll, which allows coffee drinkers to pick a blue cup for Obama or a red one for Romney, Obama is leading with 60 percent of "votes." Romney currently has 40 percent.
Though the poll calls itself "unabashedly unscientific," it has never been wrong in its three-election history. Six million cups were cast for candidates in each of the past polls, according to a press release. (In contrast, the sample size for a typical Gallup poll is 1,000 adults.)
As some of you may know, this poll has called the results exactly almost exactly right (withing 1-2 points) in 2000 and 2008.
This is not the only Good News:
President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are neck and neck in opinion polls, but there is one area in which the incumbent appears to have a big advantage: those who have already cast their ballots.
Obama leads Romney by 59 percent to 31 percent among early voters, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling data compiled in recent weeks.
Just a couple more paragraphs:
Early voting was a big part of Obama's victory over Republican John McCain in 2008, and his campaign aims to repeat its success this year.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates the campaign's efforts appear to be paying off, although its advantage could erode as Election Day approaches.
The Obama campaign says it is leading among early voters in Iowa and Ohio, and trailing by a smaller margin than 2008 in several other swing states.
And one last bit of optimism:
In Iowa, about twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans have voted by now - a potential warning sign for the Romney campaign, he said.
