It's time for our daily ranking of today's Presidential polls. All in all, pretty much the status quo for Team Blue.
First, those dreaded daily trackers. The Rasmussen tracker went from a one point Romney lead to a two point lead, and Gallup stayed at Romney +2. Among registered voters, Obama's lead declined from 3 to 2, and his approval dipped slightly. On the other hand, the IBD/TIPP tracker showed Obama with a one point lead, a one point improvement from yesterday. The RAND tracking poll, which measures support among the same group of likely voters each day, showed Obama gaining a point and now leading by 3. So overall, pretty much a wash.
On the state polling level, there were some bright spots for the Democrats. A Gravis Marketing poll showed Obama with a two point lead in Colorado, which was a slight improvement from last week. PPP showed Obama trailing Mitt by 1 in Florida, and 2 in North Carolina. In each case, Romney had gained ground since their previous polls. However, these numbers show a much closer race in these two states than other polls this week, including that Mason Dixon poll showing Romney up 7 in Florida.
I was getting concerned at points last week that Romney's debate bounce might grow, and states like Florida and North Carolina would start getting out of reach. Today's polls suggest that that is not the case. If Obama can abate the Romney debate bounce slightly, he would be in the position for a commanding electoral college victory.
