Only Republicans are allowed to say it.
Otherwise, it's inexcusable.
Congratulations, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-of course)! You've officially
broken the irony meter:
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) was the congressman who in 2009 shouted "you lie" to Obama while the president was delivering a speech to a joint session of Congress. In an interview with Fox News on Monday Wilson criticized accusations by the Obama campaign that Romney and Ryan had plainly lied during their debates against Obama and Vice President Biden, respectively.
"Indeed on the House floor was inappropriate. That night I had a discussion with Rahm Emanuel that we would discuss the issues. And that’s what we’ve been doing," Wilson said. "But, truly, I think it’s inexcusable for the highest levels –Plouffe, Axelrod — the statements that are being made, and this is being thought out. It’s not spontaneous and it’s just not true. The American people truly do see that Mitt Romney has a positive plan to create jobs in our country."
Got that? A member of Congress interrupting the president during an address to Congress by screaming "You lie!" is merely a discussion of the issues, albeit an "inappropriate" one. Besides, he was just being spontaneous. However, a political campaign pointing out that the opponent is lying (as has been noted by every fact-checker on the planet)? Inexcusable because Obama sucks and the American people and jobs and blah blah bunch-of-bullshit blah.
I'd say Wilson is just your typical Republican asshole, but that would be redundant.
