That's the CNN headline.

Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the buck stops with her when it comes to who is to blame for security ahead of a deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, were the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions, Clinton said.

As far as I'm concerned, this entire situation is complete and utter bullshit.

With all due respect, the attack that resulted in Chris Stevens' death was a tragic accident, but it wasn't unique.  As has been pointed out here and elsewhere ad nauseam, the Bush administration had more diplomatic attacks and deaths than any other presidency.  So the fact that the Secretary of State has to make a public announcement taking full responsibility for a tragedy is bullshit.  The fact that she has to state that the President and Vice President were not involved is bullshit too.

Everybody knows none of them were at fault.  If George Bush were still in office, the republicans would be draping themselves in the American flag and damning anyone who tried to point fingers.  Why?  Because they're a brood of vipers!

This is disgraceful as far as I'm concerned.  Neither Secretary Clinton, the President nor the Vice President were incompetent.  If they were then every presidency should be held accountable for these attacks.  Speaking of which, where is all the condemnation about how Bush ignored all the intelligence leading up to 911?

Again, this is bullshit.

If the Obama campaign had any sense they'd be replaying the part on that 47% video where Mitt Romney vowed to take advantage of any foreign calamity that would befall this administration.

God rest Chris Stevens soul, but may God have NO mercy on the Republican Party for what they are doing to Americans and this country as a whole.

They are VILE!

What happened (7+ / 0-)

to four Americans in Benghazi was not a "tragic accident."  It was a planned assassination.  It was not the fault of the Administration or Secretary Clinton in particular.  There are risks in volatile areas -- our foreign service including Ambassadors know these risks.

When funding is cut for security -- adjustments can be made to a point.  Those brave individuals in Libya knew the ongoing risks -- unlike the thousands and thousands and thousands of Americans in and around the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.  But many others did know the risks prior to that date and didn't give a shite.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
