Here's a little ditty, much of which came to me in a dream this morning, celebrating last night's evisceration of Mitt Romney by President Obama, especially Obama's final gut-wrenching totally cool move against Mitt (with an affirmation by Candy Crowley).
Lament for Mitt
“Acts of terror”, you heard him say it!
You're going to sink his boat!
One more zing will be the thing,
And yet he looks so calm, it seems
Like he knows something that you don’t
When Obama feeds out rope
And tells you to “Proceed”
You better look out for
That little trap door
Right beneath your feet
Don’t plead your case to Candy
With your hat in hand
Straight to your eye
She’ll call out your lie
And “Sproing”—there goes your plan
So as your stomach starts to drop
And you look up to the sky
“My plan,” you think
“Was to live by the zing”
And by the zing, you die
You both attended Harvard Law
And you should have learned the rule
Never ask a question
Or even make mention
That you don’t already know the answer to.
I hope that provides some small amusement. I'm also thinking about a parody of "Casey at the Bat" for use on November 6 after President Obama whips Romney. Of course, the last verse practically writes itself:
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the election’s gone just right;
Somewhere Fox News pundits seethe, and somewhere birthers fight,
And somewhere Dems are laughing, and somewhere Repubs pout;
But there is no joy in Freeperville — mighty Romney has struck out.
If someone else out there would like to take a crack at this for themselves, be my guest. There are a lot of better writers and poets here on DailyKos than little old me.
