I just read this story over at Gawker.com
An anonymous "family foundation" has paid for nearly 150 threatening voter fraud ads to go up around the Midwest, often in predominately black and Latino neighborhoods (the one above looms across the street from a housing project in Cleveland). The ads, 85 of which have appeared in Milwaukee and 60 of which are now around Cleveland and Columbus, read, "Voter fraud is a felony! Up to 3 1/2 years & $10,000 fine."
Clearly this is an act of intimidation, it is likely that most voters are not well-versed in voter laws or the fact that voter fraud is practicably non-existent.
And what's more, despite protests from civil rights groups, and ClearChannel's own policy of not allowing anonymous advertisers, they are not going to take them down. Hell they even admitted it was a mistake, but they won't do anything.
It's outrageous the lengths these folks will go to to disenfranchise voters and win an election even at the cost of our democracy.
