The final registration numbers are in for Nevada.
You want to know what the final registration numbers in Nevada for 2012 remind me of? They remind me of the final registration numbers in Nevada for 2008.
Nevada 2012
Here are the final numbers for active voters in Nevada:
Dems 526,986 (41.90%)
Reps 436,799 (34.73%)
Ind/Other 293,836 (23.36%)
TOTAL 1,257,621
This gives us an advantage of +7.17% over the Republicans in Nevada. There are 90,187 more active voters in our camp than in theirs.
Here are the final numbers for all voters, including inactives, in Nevada:
Dems 635,419 (42.34%)
Reps 504,974 (33.65%)
Ind/Other 360,425 (24.02%)
TOTAL 1,500,818
Among all voters, both active and inactive, we have an advantage of +8.69% and 130,445.
Nevada 2008
Here is what the numbers looked like four years ago for active voters:
Dems 531,317 (43.99%)
Reps 430,594 (35.65%)
Ind/Other 245,850 (20.36%)
TOTAL 1,207,761
So Democrats had an advantage of +8.34% and 100,723 among active voters four years ago, which is very similar to our current advantage.
Among total voters, here is what the picture looked like four years ago:
Dems 625,134 (43.22%)
Reps 513,629 (35.51%)
Ind/Other 307,775 (21.28%)
TOTAL 1,446,538
This means we had an advantage of +7.71% and 111,505 total voters over the Republicans in 2008. So among all voters, active and inactive, we are currently 18,940 voters ahead of where we were four years ago. Now I don't know if so-called "inactive" voters actually vote all that much, but I imagine some of them do. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller???
In any case, these numbers overall are fantastic, because just a few months ago, at the close of the primary season, Democrats had an edge of only 38,792 active voters over Republicans. The Obama campaign has worked its freaking ass off registering new voters and now we see the fruits of their labor. We are going to win Nevada.
And just for fun, do you know what the partisan breakdown in Nevada was in 2004, when John Kerry narrowly lost his bid for the presidency? Republicans were ahead by 4,431 registered voters. Looks like Nevada is now officially a blue state.
And now for a couple of new PPP polls which should raise our spirits:
PPP shows Obama ahead by two points in Virginia, 49% to 47%. Here is a link to the poll: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/...
And PPP shows Obama ahead by two points nationally, 49% to 47%. Here is a link to that poll: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/...
