Well, right about now what really keeps me up at night is the thought that Mitt Romney may win this election. I don't believe it will happen, I'm not whinging about it, but it does keep me up sometimes at night, until my l-trytophan/melatonin sleep aid kicks in.
But what doesn't ever keep me up at night, is worrying about the deficit and debt.
But what doesn't ever keep me up at night, is worrying about Iran and nuclear weapons.
These are the two big things I've been told I should worry about. I actually don't. Tell me I don't understand how horrible and scary those things are. I don't worry about those things, I just don't.
What does actually keep me up at night? What do I think is a real scary thing? Well, first time diaries for one, and orange squiggly things that must? be given fun names?
What I worry about the most is women's rights. Abortion, contraception, Planned Parenthood. All under attack for no reason that I can even begin to understand. But I reject the idea that we even say "rape, incest, or health of the mother". What about decision of me?
I also worry about losing Social Security under current social and political memes. It absolutely should and could be solvent forever it there was a honest will.
Same with Medicare. Thing that kills me is that Medicare reimbursement is a prime driver for keeping free market medical providers honest, has been for years. You miss a marker, you don't get your Medicare reimbursement (I work for Kaiser). If there was a will and belief that health care is a right it could be done. I reject that health care isn't a right.
I really worry about the denigration of unions in our country. Labor is under attack, unions are our lobby. CNA is a powerful union, so far we aren't under legislative attack, but the meme that unions are bad is false. I reject it.
Lastly, tonight, I worry that the gas pipes that run under my neighborhood aren't going to explode in the middle of the night. I live in the Bay Area...a San Bruno neighborhood had a PG&E pipe explode last year, some ? 12 homes destroyed and 5 people died as they slept in their homes. Old pipes. They may be beneath my house, how would I know? Or there may be some old highway overpass that someone is driving over that just collapses. Infrastructure at home.
Ooh, I said lastly, but the final worry for me tonight is the fact that CA is looking to lose 100 dairies this year due to the loss of corn in this year's drought. Weather at work.
Thanks for reading if you did...I have many more worries. The biggest ATM is that Romney wins this election, which he won't!
Go President Obama!
