Another sunny day!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

A new spice shop opened in town - Savory Spice Shop. It's not a Penzy's, but I think I like some of the blends better. I'm particularly fond of the Cambridgeshire Celery Seasoning.

It's nice to have something like this local so I don't have to drive out of state or hope that what I order on line is what I really wanted.

I took my daughter there, and then took a couple of friends. between them, they spent nearly $200.

Me, I spent $3.00.  On some cinnamon (I always need cinnamon) and some celery seasoning salt.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The polls open in Illinois today.  Hubby and I will cast our votes.  That will spice up our day.

Outside of that I'm going grocery shopping, and run some errands.  Same old, same old.

    Have a great day.

I am a work in progress. Still.

Started out in the 60's, going up to 83 today. Nice weather. I can tell my daughter is a Florida baby though, she's been wearing sweaters in the evening (and still complaining it's cold outside). My son, despite being born here is happier in the cooler weather.

Plans for today: School for the kidlets. Bit has multiple digit multiplication today, we'd been focusing on fractions the past couple of weeks, so this is a change up for her. I think she's studying mercury in Science this week.
Draco (son) is starting the cell in Bio, this is a long chapter, going to take two weeks to finish. But I don't rush him through it, we're using my college biology text (that isn't as old as it sounds) with added webpages and videos. History this week is the Presidency of Grover Cleveland (both terms) and other relevant things that happened during those years. And of course he's working through his Algebra 1 kinetic text book. We should be finishing up the Time Machine in Lit. I need to find the movie once he's finished reading it.

Other than that I just need to figure out what we're doing for dinner, maybe get some laundry folded. Basic stuff. And of course the debate tonight (which I'll be watching online since the Satellite is still out, unless the money transfers over today and we can pay that off).

the money has hit her account, so we'll have that tonight. Debate (takes about an hour for the Satellite to come on after we pay it, so will get that done when Caedy gets home from work). She's also picking up some groceries on the way home (sugar and kool aid for one).

  •  gray and cold here, Western Oregon... well, cold (0+ / 0-)

is relative, high today is forecast for 52! that's cold here, 8-) low tonite, 39 and it's SUPPOSED to be raining.

and we get to replace the threshold of the front door in a bit, whee... (later) almost done.

then Himself gets to spend the day out in the uninsulated garage, cutting door parts to finished length! well, the door progresses, if slowly. He's had the mid-range grunge off & on for weeks & weeks, so only gets a couple of hours in on this a day. drives him crazy that projects take so much longer than he thinks they should, but one's health is one's health.

at least there haven't been any major mistakes on this one, so far. well, we had to get one replacement blank, the first one turned out to be warped or cupped or something and he missed it at the wood-store. he beat himself up pretty good over that, 8/4s quarter-sawn oak is NOT cheap! But so far, the $$$ outlay is just less than half what a similar commercially manufactured door would have been, to get approximately what we wanted. and this way, we get a LOT closer to 100% of what we wanted.

hope weather & projects are going well for you all!
