This is my first diary so please bear with me. I thought that I would chronicle an interesting encounter that I had with a young lady today while having lunch. I was eating with a friend and the waitress provided us with excellent service. She was a very easy person to talk to so upon leaving I casually mentioned tonight's debate. She responded that she would not be watching as she does not even cares what happens. I told her that she should care. She says that "you would not say that if you knew who I would vote for if I was going to vote." I then responded that it does not matter to me who you vote for I just think you should take advantage of the right to vote. I then say, "But from your statement I assume you would vote for Romney." She says, "that's right." I say that is your choice but let me ask you a question: "Let's say you were working for a company for a number of years and you found out that a male counterpart of yours had been working and doing the same job as you and they had been working the same amount of time as you but they were being paid more than you. How would you like that?" She says, "I would be outraged." I then said, "Well Romney would not even say whether he would have supported the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act." She says, "What in the world is that?" I explained to her what it was and I knew right then I had her attention. I then said, "Do you think that women should have the right to choose whether they want an abortion or not?" She says, "I am really not sure about that." I said, "Ok, that's a fair response but what if you were raped and you found out that you were pregnant, do you think you should be forced to have the baby?" She says, "of, course not." I said then, "Well, Romney is on record saying that he would support legislation overturning Roe vs Wade." She says, "I never knew all of this but if you are telling me the truth then there is no way that I could support Romney." I then took the time to pull up video clips on iphone that showed Romney giving his stance on certain issues. She was shocked and said that she would definitely be voting and that she would be voting for Obama.

I took the time to write this diary because I was excited that I had been able to convince an individual to vote and to vote for Obama not with lies or slander but with the truth. I then wondered how many other people are going to vote for Romney simply because they don't take the time to access the information that is available. We are going to win this and we are going to win it with the truth. Needless to say, I am FIRED up and READY to GO!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
