Welcome to the Tuesday Coffee Hour here on Street Prophets. This is an open thread where we can hang out and talk about what’s going on in our worlds. The question to ponder today is what we should call a group of Republicans.
First, some background. Group is a general designation for a group of animals. In English, some different groups of animals have different names. Listed below are some examples:
Lions are organized into a pride.
Wolves are organized into a pack.
While a group of hounds is also known as a pack, a pair of hounds is known as a brace, and a set of three—that is, a brace and a half—is called a leash.
A bunch of geese are known as a gaggle, while a bunch of swans is a bevy and a group of partridges is known as a covey.
Bees and butterflies gather together in swarms.
A bunch of fish is known as a school.
Now, the primary question is: what should we call a group of Republicans?
Note: my editor has suggested “a fester of Republicans” and “a pestilence of Republicans.”
